In today's digital landscape, protecting your email communications is more important than ever. With Outlook, you can easily encrypt your emails to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access. In this guide, we'll walk you through the simple steps to send an encrypted email using Outlook.

Depending on the email client you are using, the steps vary slightly.

Outlook on the Web (OWA)

To get started, follow these easy steps:

  1. Create a new email: Start by composing a new message as you normally would.
  2. Select Options from the Ribbon: Click on the "Options" button in the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Choose Encryption: From the drop-down menu, select the "Encrypt" option (represented by a padlock icon). You'll be presented with four encryption options to choose from.

Encryption Options

  1. Encrypt: This option applies standard encryption to your message, requiring recipients to authenticate themselves before viewing the contents.
  2. Do Not Forward: In addition to encrypting the message, this option prevents it from being forwarded by others.
  3. Dixie State University - Confidential: This option restricts access to authorized individuals affiliated with Utah Tech University.
  4. Dixie State University - Confidential View Only: This option applies the same protection as the previous one, but limits their actions to only viewing or reading the message.
