Frequently Asked Questions

All students now have a new Utah Tech email account. All official communication, including waitlist notifications will be sent to the new “@utahtech.edu” email address and not to the previous “@dmail.dixie.edu” email address.  Students will want to begin checking that new email account regularly to ensure any important updates won’t be missed.

 

What do I use to log into my email account?

Email Address: [email protected] (i.e., [email protected])

Password: The password you use to log into University services.

To reset your password, visit changepasssword.utahtech.edu or contact the Help Desk.

 

What is my new email address?

Your new email address has been automatically generated for you, such as – [email protected] or [email protected] (if you have a preferred name identified in the student information system. Note, the preferred name will not be reflected on, among other things, a student’s official academic record, diploma, or transcript).

 

Contact the Registrar’s Office to add/change your preferred name (https://registration.utahtech.edu/contact-registrars-office/).

Note, if multiple individuals have the same first and last name, then a number will be appended to the end of the email address to ensure uniqueness.  To verify your actual email address, go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/?ref=MeControl. If you experience any problems, contact the Help Desk. Please include your full name, student Digital ID number, and phone number when contacting the Helpdesk.

How do I access my new email account?

New Utah Tech email addresses are provisioned on Microsoft’s Office 365 platform. It can be accessed like any Outlook account.

When you are prompted for your credentials, use [email protected] (i.e. [email protected]) as your email account and your University password.

 

What if I want official University communication sent to a different email address?

Utah Tech Sends communications and alerts to students regarding crucial information including, but not limited to, tuition payment reminders, enrollment reminders, campus activities and events, and security and health alerts.

Please note that it is your responsibility to keep your “Preferred” email address current and accessible to you. You are responsible for ensuring that the “Preferred” address is being monitored and maintained by you on a regular basis.

  1. Log into https://my.utahtech.edu
  2. On the homepage, click on “Personal Information”
  3. If you already have a Personal email address:
    1. Click on the pencil icon to edit the entry
    2. Click the “Mark as Preferred” checkbox
    3. Click “Update”
  4. If you do not have a Personal email address:
    1. Click the “Add New” in the email section
    2. Select “Personal” as the email type
    3. Enter the email address
    4. Click the “Mark as Preferred” checkbox
    5. Click “Add”

 

How long can I keep my Utah Tech branded email address?

Your Utah Tech email account will be available for as long as you are a student at Utah Tech.  Email deactivation occurs when a student graduates and/or non-enrollment happens, the account will be available for two (2) years, after which the account is deleted.

 

How long can I access my Dmail account?

If you had a Dmail account, your @dmail.dixie.edu account is available until June 30, 2024.  After that date, the mailbox will be deleted, and you will no longer be able to access the @dmail.dixie.edu email.  Therefore, you will want to transfer any emails you wish to keep to your new Utah Tech account or a personal email account (recommended) before June 30, 2024.
