Honorlock is Utah Tech University’s remote proctoring solution for online exams in Canvas. It helps maintain academic integrity while allowing students to complete exams remotely.

Beginning Summer 2026, Honorlock replaces Proctorio as the university’s primary proctoring tool.

⚠️ Important for Students: Remove Proctorio Extension

Before using Honorlock, you MUST disable or remove the Proctorio Chrome extension.

  • Proctorio conflicts with Honorlock and may prevent exams from launching
  • This is one of the most common causes of technical issues

👉 Follow these instructions:

What is Honorlock?

Honorlock is an online proctoring tool built into Canvas that:

  • Monitors exams using your webcam and screen
  • Flags suspicious activity for instructor review
  • Provides live, 24/7 support during exams

No separate account is required—everything happens within Canvas.

For Students

For Faculty

  • Enable Honorlock within Canvas quizzes
  • Customize proctoring settings as needed
  • Review flagged exam sessions after completion

Testing Center Exams

If you want students to take exams in the Utah Tech Testing Center, you should use Respondus LockDown Browser instead of Honorlock.
